St Andrew Greek Orthodox Church Mission Statement: To know Jesus Christ; to make Christ known to others in the parish and beyond; and to nurture and disciple people in a mature Christian faith for the glory of God.

St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church provides the spiritual, physical and social needs to a diverse community in the Chicago metropolitan area since 1926. The church serves inter-Christian families (Orthodox and non-Orthodox spouse) and other Orthodox traditions (Ethiopian, Serbian, Bulgarian). The church’s stewardship membership is approximately 550 households. The church is seeing a new interest in Orthodoxy from mainstream America. Many new parishioners are recent converts to Orthodoxy. The church does not actively evangelize but leaves its doors open to all who are interested in knowing more about the Orthodox faith.

The parish of St. Andrew's Church remains vibrant and partners with several community churches and agencies to better serve the aging and those in need. It continues to serve the needs of Orthodox families and works with other faiths to serve the Edgewater community. The church’s facilities are used seven days a week by parishioners, as well as other not for profit organizations (religious and secular) that serve the community at no charge (see links below).

St Andrew's Church has a number of organizations that make up the threads of life in our parish community. These include the Parish Council, Philoptochos (friends of the poor), Parent Teacher Organization (P.T.O.), Sunday Church School, Greek Language School, Choir, Altar Boys(Acolytes) and Youth Ministry.

Mather Lifeways Senior Outreach uses the community center (auditorium/gym) on a monthly basis to host a luncheon program to over 300 seniors in the Chicago area.

Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) wheelchair basketball program uses our auditorium/gym on a weekly basis during the fall and winter months. St Andrew's has become the “home” gym for the RIC’s team, The Hornets.

St Andrew's supports the Kostas Z Foundation, founded by Kosta Zografopoulos an active parishioner of St Andrew's Church, which provides information, integration, and participation among people with disabilities.

We welcome you to become involved in St Andrew’s parish life!  Please contact the church office for additional infomation at 773-334-4515.
